Psychology Internship Program
The predoctoral internship at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center is accredited “on contingency” by the American Psychological Association (APA) which means that we have two years to submit distal data to APA’s CoA for consideration of a “full” accreditation status. This option was created by APA in order to allow new internships to become accredited earlier in their cycle of development. All graduates of the program as it is currently accredited are considered to have completed an accredited internship.
The Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center Psychology Training Program offers internships to U.S. citizens who are pursuing a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited institution. To be considered, students must demonstrate completion of at least three years of graduate course work and a minimum of 500 direct contact hours in assessment and intervention. Applicants must be certified as ready for internship by their Director of Training.
